Vote means leave the EU

-

IN reply to Jessica Reece-Khan’s letter (Dec 17th), it was interesting to read that she and others went to London thinking that they have a right to (in her words) overturn the Brexit vote. Does she know what democracy is?

To say that the vote was fraudulently acheived is an insult to voters. Lies may have been said but they apply to both sides of the vote, and to imply that votes were cast on the basis of what we were told by both sides is insulting the intelligence of people.

This is just another example of a remoaner not accepting what the majority of people voted for. There would be no need for all these letters regarding Brexit if we all accept the vote and just get on with leaving the EU.

Only solution is to have a new vote

APART from the confidence vote that she survived, and subsequent bumps in the road, I believe everything is going according to plan in the May camp. Historically she has kicked the can down the road on several issues to buy herself more time and this is no different. Assurances alone from the EU will not facilitate the votes she needs to get her remain deal through parliament. However as we approach the cut off point for a vote on January 21st it will become increasingly apparent to parliamentarians that it’s going to be `May’ way or the highway. I believe this is actually the intended plan and it’s simply a case of hang in there and give MPs an impossible choice. Leavers see the current May plan as remaining in a different guise.

I believe the only solution to this quagmire is a peoples vote, based on new evidence, understood and accepted by all to be final and deciding. But, you can`t have a 3-way split, it has to be black and white: Remain or leave.

The country needs stability and direction and it’s time for wishy washy politics to end and commit to a route for the country to embark on whatever that may entail. Bryan Griffiths Bedworth
