Biamou’s up and running again at City

-

COVENTRY City striker Max Biamou has taken a huge step forward in his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury by getting back on the grass at Ryton.

The popular French centreforward is counting down the weeks to his comeback to action but manager Mark Robins is taking a cautious approach, determined to give the player plenty of time to get himself ready to go again.

Biamou suffered a ruptured cruciate knee ligament at Blackpool last August and it remains to be seen whether Sky Blues fans will see him before the summer.

“He started running last week and he looks a lot happier for it,” said Robins.

“He’s still a way away, a couple of months maybe.

“I spoke to him the other day and he’s still focused on a couple of months, which is fine because he’s got that end in sight.

“I just want to make sure he’s fully recovered and that he gives himself the best opportunity of a full recovery.”

Asked if supporters are likely to see Biamou on the pitch before the end of the season, the manager admitted: “I wouldn’t have thought so.

“I think it depends on a number of factors that are of benefit to everyone, primarily him. I think to give him an extra three months with a pre-season under his belt might be the way forward for him, so I just need to have a look and each individual case is different.”
