We need a better voting system

-

THE present state of UK politics must be looked on with astonishment and a great of amusement by the many countries who in the past held Great Britain to be a shining example in how world class civilised government works.

Regardless how people voted in the referendum we certainly didn’t vote for our country to be ungovernable a direction we seem to be heading given the defections from the two major parties.

It’s been clear for many years that our “first past the post” system of voting is broken and unrepresentative of the people and I believe it’s about time we demanded a voting system that represents all our citizens not just those of the two main parties.

Phew... pre booked not 6 months to live!

WHEN I went for a routine cholesterol blood test at the excellent George Eliot Hospital, on the board some names, including mine, had ‘PB’ in brackets after the name. Assuming PB was an abbreviation for the Latin term for ‘6 months to live’, I enquired at the desk. It stood for ‘pre-booked.’ Paul Graham, Nuneaton

Fans will blame council and Wasps

WITH Reference to the Gary Newbon article of 26th February regarding the ongoing dispute in which he says the council and Wasps feel, somewhat naively, that they could not see why Coventry City fans would be tempted to blame them if Coventry City were expelled from the league.

The stadium was originally built for Coventry City, who are financed by SISU, who are the main culprits. Also the council must take some responsibility in this by selling the family silver to a club who has no connection with the city or area and have wandered into this mess.

Wasps also have it within their gift to be sensible and not punish thousands of loyal Sky Blue fans.

If the Sky Blues go to the wall, fans will blame the council and Wasps regardless and I fear for the future of Wasps.
