Beer we go! It’s festival time

- By ELIS SANDFORD News Reporter

COVENTRY’S beer festival is making its return later this month, and is set to offer up a wide range of beverages for attendees.

Held by the Coventry and District branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), it is set to take place at the Butts Park Arena.

In recent years, Coventry Beer Festival has been held in April.

But last year the festival has had to be brought forward in order to avoid a clash with CAMRA’s national AGM and Members’ Weekend.

This year it will take place in March, on Friday 15 and Saturday 16.

There will be more than 75 beers, ciders, perries and country wines on offer for those who attend across the two days.

A provision list of beers and other drinks featuring at the festival is on the

Coventry and

District CAMRA website.

It has been confirmed by organisers there will be “special beers from local breweries” available. Luckily for organisers, this year’s festival should be warmer than the last. Bringing it forward last year avoided the clash with the CAMRA event, but it fell in the middle of the Beast from the East a period of heavy snowfall. Early weather forecasts predict showers, but on the whole, the weather should be far more palatable. Organisers have confirmed there will be ample parking, including coach parking at the venue.

The opening hours currently stand at 12pm until 11pm on both days.

Finally, admission is free to card carrying CAMRA members except from 6pm onwards on the Friday - which will be £2 entry. For non-members, entry is £2, which rises to £3 from 6pm onwards on the Friday.

There will also be food available throughout the weekend. The Festival supports a different charity each year, and it is not yet known which charity will be chosen this year.

There will be more than 75 beers, ciders and country wines on offer for those who attend the two days.
