By George! Fantastic Four has new addition for fight night

-

THERE’S been a late change to the line up for this weekend’s ‘Fantastic Four’ tournament in Coventry.

Shane Normoyle has been forced out through injury and in steps Leamington’s George Moldoveanu to face Chris Masterson in the semifinal at the Sports Connexion on Saturday. The winner will face either James Flinn or Sean McKervey in the final.

The Coventry rivals clash in the other semi-final of promoter Marc Dwyer’s show.

Moldoveanu boxed on Dwyer’s promotion in September and won inside two rounds to extend his impressive ring record.

The 28-year-old claims 50 wins from 60 amateur bouts in Romania and as a professional, he was matched tough on the European circuit.

Moldoveanu made his pro debut in 2011, against Valery Yanchy, who went on to win European flyweight honours, and took him the full six rounds. Moldoveanu was inactive for nearly five years before he boxed on Dwyer’s show.

“I have been training all the time,” he said. “I love boxing. I have been boxing since I was 15 and I don’t do it for the money but because I love it.”

Moldoveanu is confident of victory at the Sports Connexcion. “Chris Masterson has a strong punch,” he said, “but I am better than him.

“I am very confident. I had a lot of amateur fights – and won most of them. Three rounds is easy.”
