My plan is to stay healthy and be a good boy - Fury

-

BOXING: Tyson Fury intends to remain healthy and stay out of trouble as he plots his way back to the top of the heavyweight division.

The 31-year-old Mancunian relinquished the belts he won against Wladimir Klitschko after much-publicised mental health problems and a ban for a failed drugs test.

Fury (inset) has one eye on a February rematch with WBC champion Deontay Wilder after their meeting last December finished in a controversial draw but for now he has to focus on tomorrow’s Las Vegas bout against relative unknown Otto Wallin. And Fury, who has had previous weight problem, insists he is now in peak condition.

“I have changed my lifestyle, I have a new lease of life and it is training, eating well, sleeping well, drinking well and enjoying day-by-day as it comes,” he said. “My long-term plan is to keep healthy and stay out of trouble by being a good boy.” CYCLING: Mathieu Van Der Poel reclaimed the overall lead in the Tour of Britain after finishing sixth in the stage six time-trial in Pershore. The Corendon-Circus rider wrested the green jersey from Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott) after out-pacing his rival by nine seconds over the 14.4km circuit.

Another Michelton-Scott rider, Edoardo Affini, took the stage victory in a time of 16 minutes and 40 seconds, seven seconds ahead of Sebastian Langeveld (EF Education First), with Dylan Van Baarle of Team Ineos in third. Van Der Poel now holds a six-second lead over Trentin at the top of the overall standings, with another Team Ineos rider, Russia’s Pavel Sivakov back in third.

TENNIS: Andy Murray hopes his recovery from a hip operation can continue on an upward trajectory after taking a wild card into next month’s Rolex Shanghai Masters.

The former world number one is stepping up his singles comeback following surgery in January and will return to the ATP Tour at the Zhuhai Championships beginning on September 23.
