Robins: Win will do us the world of good

- By ANDY TURNER

MARK Robins insists Coventry City’s bounce back victory against in-form Fleetwood Town will work wonders for this side’s fragile confidence.

The Sky Blues went into the game in ninth place and looking for their first League One win in four games, but ended the night back up in fourth place ahead of Saturday’s trip to new league leaders Peterborough.

“I can’t tell you how important a three points that is for us,” said the delighted City manager. “We did OK in the first half but we were lacking a bit of confidence for whatever reason, I don’t know.

“But the belief has got to be there and winning this game will give us plenty of that because we played against a side there who played a similar way to Rotherham, similar types of player, very good depth to the squad and very good quality to the squad.

“They changed shape three or four times and brought players from the bench to match you up and unsettle you, and the way they set up is difficult to contain.

“We were a little bit slow and not finding those spaces. Then they sat in a bit and said come at us and set traps but we knew they were going to do that and when that happens you have to come up with something different, and we managed to do that and the players did really well in the second half.

“Once we got to grips with it I thought we were really good and we kept their chances to a minimum.”

There were plenty of nerves around the ground after Jordy Hiwula’s penalty miss at MK Dons at the weekend, but Zain Westbrooke stepped up to hit home City’s minute winner.

“Zain stuck it away brilliantly and he was the nominated taker, so it was a really good three points.”
