MAX IS HAPPY TO GET ON HIS BIKE..

SECRET BEHIND SKY BLUES STAR’S SPECTACULAR STRIKES REVEALED

HE’S only made three starts this season but Max Biamou has already sewn up Coventry City’s 2019/20 Goal of the Season award with his sensational scissor kick strike against Peterborough United.

The 28-year-old striker doesn’t do tap-ins and won, hands down, the 2017/18 award in his first season with the Sky Blues when he had three contenders in the end of year competition.

So have you ever wondered what’s the secret to his success with the spectacular?

Team-mate Zain Westbrooke thinks he has the answer.

“I have never seen anyone try as many bicycle kicks as Max,” he said of the player who took his tally to four with a superb hat-trick against Southampton Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.

“He does them in training all the time and that’s maybe why it’s no coincidence why it comes off in games.

“Everyone might think he’s trying the spectacular but it’s something he wants to add to his game and he’s done it consistently over the last few years, getting bicycle kicks on target.”

Few players have the technique that the Frenchman has displayed time and time again, watching the flight of the ball through the air and hitting the sweet spot with a firsttime shot with incredible power and accuracy.

“He’s big, athletic and confident and sees the ball well,” said Westbrooke.

“Most people like to take it down and control it but he believes in himself that he can score from hitting it first time.”

Biamou is hugely popular with the fans but he’s had to be patient to get his chance to impress after missing last season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

But he’s put himself back to the fore, albeit dented by a three-match ban for a red card offence against Accrington, and has shown all the signs of being one of the club’s success stories this season.

“We all know Max really well and how hard he works every day,” said Westbrooke.

“He’s a very humble guy and hopefully good things come to people who work hard and hopefully he gets to where he needs to get.”

Asked what sort of a character he is in the dressing room, Westbrooke added: “He’s a bit of a joker and prankster but also mature and knows what needs to be done.

“So he likes to get his head down and focus on what he needs to do at the club.”

City fans were left aghast after the English Football League announced the nominations for Goal of the Month for October – as there was one glaring omission.

The footballing body has drawn up a shortlist of three players for the monthly gong, but the SkyBet League One list does not include Biamou’s goal.

The 28-year-old’s 85th-minute strike was admired up and down the country and even Sky Blues are questioning the absence of Biamou’s goal, tweeting about it from their official Twitter account.

Numerous social media posts from fans also expressed shock at the omission.
