Lead thief struck 3 times on same day

A LEAD thief struck three times on the same day in Coventry.

Lee Tarn’s day of crime also saw him found with a kitchen knife in Alliance Way, Stoke Heath, on August 5.

He pleaded guilty to four charges - three of lead theft and one of having a blade in a public place - when he appeared at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court.

His rap sheet also included further offences of failing to attend a drugs assessment and failing to answer bail on separate dates, both of which he pleaded guilty to.

Tarn, 39, of no fixed address, was jailed for 20 weeks by magistrate­s who also told him to pay a £122 victim surcharge, which goes to organisati­ons who help support victims of crime.

Other cases heard at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court between October 16 and 22 included:

Lawrence Cumber, 49, of Barbican Rise, Stoke Hill, admitted drink-driving in

Longfellow Road (breath 96, limit 35).

He was banned from driving for four years, given 135 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £310 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Dean Allton, 43, of Rugby Road, Leamington, admitted stealing vape refills worth £267 from Sainsbury’s. He was sent to prison for 15 weeks due to “record of previous offending” and “flagrant disregard for court orders” and ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.

Cathy Kelly, 41, of Busby Road, Ernesford Grange, admitted drink-driving in Bredon Avenue (breath 146, limit 35). She was handed a 12-week prison sentence suspended for two years, banned from driving for three years and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £122 victim surcharge.

Daniel Dudas, 28, of Goring Road, Stoke, admitted possession of cocaine, MDMA tablets, amphetamin­e, cannabis and chlorometh­andienone.

He was given 200 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £185 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Michelle Shannon, 37, of no fixed address, admitted three counts of stealing goods (including chocolate, biscuits and baby milk) worth £468 from M P K Service Station in

Coventry, failing to answer bail, stealing items worth £85 from a parked car, stealing a handbag, stealing washing powder and an airfryer worth £12, fraud by false representa­tion (using a stolen bank card) and failing to comply with requiremen­ts following release from prison.

She was sent to prison for 12 weeks and ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.

Mark Campbell, 55, of Moor Street, Earlsdon, admitted drink-driving in Allard Way (breath 125, limit 35).

He was banned from driving for 29 months, given 250 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Mary McAviney, 38, of Narberth Way, Woodway Park, admitted failing to provide a specimen, damaging a police vehicle and assaulting a police officer.

She was banned from driving for three years, given a community order including a four-month curfew with an electronic tag from 7pm-7am and ordered to pay £100 compensati­on.
