Squirrels constant source of delight
NOT found on any list of Coventry’s attractions, the Cathedral’s grey squirrels are nevertheless a constant source of delight to visitors.
Some are so tame they will beg for a treat and then pose obligingly for pictures.
However, these lovely creatures are at risk from natural predators and vehicles that manoeuvre uncertainly around narrow Cathedral Lanes.
One little fellow, probably hit by a car, has been spotted dragging his back leg as he scurries up to passers by in the hope of some food. Does anyone know how best to help in such circumstances?
I believe vets will treat wild animals but the problem is capture and transportation. No wild animal should be left in a state of distress if they can be caught.

Pride and dignity in War Memorial Park
YOU rightly report (CT 11 November) local events remembering the sacrifices made in war.
My wife and I found the Commemoration at the War Memorial Park very moving. Large numbers of Military, Cadets, Emergency Services and charitable bodies paraded with pride and dignity.
While serving in Germany, I attended not only Remembrance Services at British Army bases, but some Toten Helden Tag (Fallen Heroes Day) services also. Again very moving, with many grieving bereaved relatives.
I draw two specific lessons in particular.
First, that the fallen should always be remembered in this way. Second, the need for strong intelligence services to reduce the risk of war. I note that for the first time wreaths on behalf of those services were laid at the Cenotaph in London. That is also absolutely correct.
