X-FACTOR winner Sam Bailey has answered a Nuneaton mum’s appeal for help for her dying son.

Sam Bailey, who won the TV talent competition in 2013, was set to visit the home of Charlotte Nixon yesterday to sing for her son Bailey.

The 34-year-old has been told by specialists that her her terminally-ill son Bailey does not have long to live.

The eight-year-old loves music and she is desperate to give her son music therapy from the family home in his final days - so appealed to musicians to come and play there.

Sam Bailey, who lives in nearby Leicestershire, has responded to the appeal.

In a tweet, the singer said: “Off to see this amazing little fighter today at his home in Nuneaton x if there are any other musicians, celebrities that want to help, please get in touch!! Let’s make Bailey smile!! Pray for little Bailey! Xx “

It is not the first time the singer has helped a Nuneaton family - she also invited Jack Oldacres, who suffers from a rare and painful skin condition, on stage at one of her gigs and also took part in fundraising events for him.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Sam said: “I kept getting tagged in the article. The minute I read it, I knew I had to do something to help, just looking at the picture in the article, it is heartbreaking.”

She said: “I spoke to his mum and told her I was free next Friday and she said that might be too late. I was supposed to be putting our Christmas tree up for our kids today, they have been asking me to do it for so long but as soon as Charlotte said that, I thought ‘I have to go tomorrow.’

“So I explained to my kids ‘Mummy can’t put up the tree tomorrow, we will do it at the weekend.’ Some things are just so much more important.”

The mum-of-three said: “I just want to give his mum a big hug, tell her she is not alone. I can’t imagine what she is going through but I just want to go and see her and do something to help Bailey but also her and the whole family too.”

The appeal for musicians for Bailey has been shared hundreds of times on social media.

Offers of help have flooded in, so much so, according to Charlotte Nixon’s post on Facebook, they now have two performers every day for the next two weeks.

It was a heartbreaking appeal that led to the huge response.

“Bailey has always loved music and responded so well to it, he had the most infectious laugh when hearing music and his right leg would always bounce to the beat,” the mum-oftwo explained.

“Bailey now cannot be moved out of the house due to his deterioration so he would need “music therapy” at home. He loves the sound of a guitar and some gentle singing.

“He has his own team of very experienced professionals who are now all on standby any day for him to gain his angels wings. mum I am completely helpless and there is nothing more I can do for him however, knowing how much he loves music this is the last thing I can do for him.”

’The former Higham Lane School pupil added: “Bailey is my life, my that I am and my heart is breaking so bad right now but I have one last fight to make sure my boy leaves this earth with a smile on his face.”

This appeal has already seen musicians step forward, to offer their time for free for Bailey, who brain condition which has led to Epilepsy, severe gut issues, dystonia and global developmental delay.

Any bands or musicians who can help are being urged to contact Charlotte Nixon via Facebook.
