PANDA-MONIUM OVER ZOO’S NEW ARRIVALS
IT’S Christmas time; there’s no need to be afraid. Unless you’re one of the keepers at Chester Zoo, in charge of looking after the seriously grumpy red panda Nima. She’s a feisty furry madam, with a habit of bullying her toy boy Koda and nicking his food. At least that’s why they think Nima’s putting on so much weight, as the red pandas do their Slimming World-style check-ins on the scales, until they realise that actually, she’s expecting!
An exciting event, as they haven’t had any new red panda cubs in three years.
And before long Nima is squeezing herself into her nesting box, ready to deliver two insanely cute fluffy little squeakers.
There have been lots of new arrivals at the zoo this year, meaning plenty of animals are preparing for their first Christmas.
A time when the keepers can’t resist playing Santa and delivering a few festive treats.
Over at the aquarium are two mascara barb fish – Doris and Clark – who are more in the comfy telly and slippers stage of their love affair.
But keepers think Clark could still have a few good breeding years in him, so set him up with glamorous new incomers Kim,
Kourtney and Khloe, in the hope they’ll swell the numbers of this endangered fish.
After setting up a love tank, it turns out Clark can’t handle being pursued by these curvaceous young newbies – he’s just not interested in Keeping Up With The Kardashians – and instead wants to be back with his middle-aged missus.
