Most popular toys of 2019

- By TRINITY SHAW

CHANCES are your children have already made it pretty clear what they want for Christmas, but if they - or you - are out of inspiration you may want to know what everyone else is buying.

New research by Evans Cycles reveals the top 10 toys sold this year and the top toy sold every year for the last 20 years.

The large UK bike retailer, Evans Cycles, has also examined Google searches to find out what the most popular toys will be this Christmas - combining the information to produce an accurate idea of what parents are actually buying.

Every year, Dream Toys List, reveals what major toy retailers think will be the years no.1 selling toy and this year they have predicted toys like Peppa Pig’s Stage Playset, LOL Surprise Glampers and Boppi The Booty Shakin Llama will fly off the shelves.

But the Google analytics suggest parents are abandoning the modern and looking to buy more classic Christmas presents like bikes, scooters, rollerblades, skateboards and games consoles.

Here are the top Googled toys this year:

Although the major retailers predicted a big year for Cubby Bear and booty shaking llamas it appears there have not been many searches between them, with Peppa Pig, another retailer favorite, also being low in search terms.

Commenting on the research, David Sheppard, Bike Buying Manager

at Evans Cycles, said: “It’s great to see that many mums and dads are moving away from ‘fad’ toys and searching for ones that will still be used and enjoyed postChristmas Day.”

He added: “Children’s bikes, skateboards and scooters are all brilliant ways of encouraging children to become more active, get out the house and explore, and help to develop their independence at the same time, and the best part is you don’t need batteries to use one!”
