Weather warning as storm heads for region

STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED DURING THE WEEK

STORM Brendan is heading to Coventry and Warwickshi­re - bringing a yellow weather warning with it.

The whole of England has been given the warning to expect strong winds and rainfall.

In fact, the region has got off lightly many parts of the country were facing a weather warning yesterday.

However, we are expected to feel the brunt of Storm Brendan today, according to the Met Office, with the yellow weather warning in place for 12 hours.

The warning is for this afternoon and evening.

It comes into place at midday and ends at midnight.

Strong winds will develop today which may bring some disruption.

According to the Met Office:

l Some delays to road, rail and air transport are “likely”.

l Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.

l Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely. l Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.

The Met Office has a host of advice for how to stay safe in a storm - things like staying indoors and trying not to shelter near to trees.

This is what the Met Office predicted: “A dry and clear start, which will continue into early afternoon.

“Later on, heavy rain will push in from the west and continue into the evening. “Remaining windy. Maximum temperatur­e12C.” For the rest of the week the Met Office said: “Wednesday will be mostly dry and breezy.

“A dry start on Thursday with heavy rain later. Staying breezy.

“Dry with winds easing on Friday.”
