All quiet insist Sky Blues as deadline nears
BIG STARS STAYING PUT AS DEADLINE APPROACHES
with a strong squad with strength in depth in virtually every position.
Players in
None so far and there are currently no plans to add in the window unless there is a last-minute crisis brought about by a serious injury to a key player this week or a successful bid for a Sky Blues star before the weekend, which might prompt Robins to draft in a replacement.
Players out
Junior Brown was due back at Coventry from his half-season loan at League Two Scunthorpe United this month but The Iron decided to keep the 30-year-old left-back who does not figure in Robins’s plans.
Brown, who signed on a free from Shrewsbury
Town in the summer of 2018, is out of contract at the end of the season and set to leave once his now season-long spell at Glanford Park is complete.
Jordan Ponticelli was called back from his disappointing loan spell with League One Tranmere Rovers, where he managed just three appearances. After playing a couple of games in the Under-23s this month, the 21-year-old striker was sent back out to non-league Wrexham for the remainder of the campaign to get himself going with games and goals.
Declan Drysdale has joined nonleague neighbours Solihull Moors for a month. David Bremang had a loan spell at Nuneaton Borough before Christmas and has now moved south of the county to join Leamington, with whom the Under-23s striker has made three appearances to date but is yet to score a goal. The teenager is there for an initial month.
IT’S been one of the quietest January transfer windows for years as far as Coventry City are concerned.
And there’s just a few days left before Friday’s 11pm deadline.
There has been plenty of ongoing speculation surrounding the highly-rated Sam McCallum who has been linked with a host of clubs, including Premier League Liverpool and Aston Villa, and title-chasing Championship side Leeds United.
Zain Westbrooke has also been linked with interest from a host of second-tier clubs while Ipswich Town emerged as admirers of Jordan Shipley.
However, the club insist that they have not received a single enquiry or bid for any of their players to date – a situation they hope will remain the case until the window slams shut at the end of the week.
A handful of players, mostly development squad personnel, have gone out on loan to get valuable game-time and there may be others who follow.
But in terms of Mark Robins’ first team, the manager is well blessed
