WHOEVER has to pick Coventry City’s player of the season award this term will have a tough time selecting their winner.

There could be as many as eight of Mark Robins’ players in the running to scoop the award, from loan stars Callum O’Hare and Liam Walsh to Fankaty Dabo and Jordan Shipley.

But who would the statistics favour? We asked popular football statistics website WhoScored.com for a break down of how each and every Sky Blues player has performed this season.

The website used statistics from each and every City game, from headers won to dribbles completed, to rate a player out of ten – and then calculates an average from their findings.

And we can now reveal the top five.. 1) Liam Walsh (7.26/10)

The City midfielder has been the best player this season, according to WhoScored. com.

No player in Sky Blue has picked up as many man of the match awards this season as the Bristol City loanee (4), closely followed by Sam McCallum (3).

The 22-year-old will almost certainly become a regular for Lee Johnson’s side in the Championship next season, or even the Premier League should they secure promotion.

2) Sam McCallum (7.14/10)

There is no secret that McCallum has been in glorious form for the Sky Blues this season, forcing his way past

No player in Sky Blue has picked up as many man-of-the-match awards this season as the Bristol City loanee.

Brandon Mason to become a regular for the club. His fine performances caught the eye of Norwich City, who snapped him up for a fee in excess of £3m and loaned him back to Ryton for the remainder of the season. Should Norwich fall to relegation to the Championship, McCallum could well find himself starting at leftback next season.

=3) Kyle McFadzean (6.98/10) Coventry’s defensive strength has been remarkable in the second half of the season and McFadzean has played a vital part in that.

No player has won more aerial duels that the Sky Blues’ big central defender.

The former Burton Albion man has made mistakes, but had done more than enough to make up for those errors with recent performances.

=3) Michael Rose (6.98/10)

McFadzean’s defensive partner Rose has been just as solid at the back.

Only Marko Marosi and Fankaty Dabo have played more minutes for Robins’ City side this season.

And his average matchday performance has ranked at 6.98, joint with McFadzean.

5) Matty Godden (6.92/10)

Godden has certainly had dry spells this season, but two hat-tricks in two games will have certainly helped drive his average rating up to 6.92.

His match-winning goal against Portsmouth at St. Andrews will be remembered as one of his moments of the season, a huge goal in a enormous clash.

His average rating makes him the highest-rated forward in the Coventry squad.
