ROBINS RAISES THREAT LEVEL!

CITY BOSS HAS WARNED PLAYERS AGAINST COMPLACENCY AHEAD OF THE LAST 14 GAMES OF THE SEASON

MARK Robins has revealed that the first thing he did when he went into the dressing room after the final whistle on Saturday was issue his Coventry City players with a threat.

The Sky Blues boss was delighted with his side’s 2-0 victory at second from bottom Southend United – a result that moved City up to second in the League One table.

But the manager has warned there will be trouble of any of his personnel start to get ahead of themselves with 14 long games left to play.

“They have been brilliant but I don’t want people to get too carried away because if they do they won’t be with me too long,” said Robins.

“I have just spoken to them in there and the result is fantastic but they have to keep doing the things they are doing but do not get carried away.

“Any sign of that and they’ll get their backsides kicked.” He added: “The league position doesn’t do anything for anyone at this stage of the season.

“There’s still loads of football to be played and we have yet to play teams like Rotherham and Sunderland and the teams that have got to come to us are all in that top end of the table. “We know we have got tough games and it just promises to be an exciting period, which is brilliant for us.”

With a clear week with no midweek game for the first time in three weeks, Robins has given his players a few days off. “They’ll get a breather and they have earned that,” he said.

“It’s been a really tough period and now we need to get ready for Rochdale. They didn’t play at the weekend so hopefully the weather picks up and we can play in glorious sunshine at the weekend.” Meanwhile, City fans are expected to be out in force again this weekend after the club have secured more tickets to almost double their initial allocation for the trip to Rochdale. Robins praised the “brilliant” away support at Southend United at the weekend when 1,588 Sky Blues fans made the long trip to Essex to sing their team to success over the Shrimpers.

Another three points at Spotland this coming weekend against fifth from bottom Dale, who have won just once in their last six in the division, could see Coventry go top depending on how leaders Rotherham United get on at Accrington Stanley ahead of the big six pointer on Tuesday when the Millers travel to St Andrew’s.

City fans snapped up their initial allocation of 994 tickets for Saturday’s away game as of Sunday and the club have since received an additional 980 tickets, taking the overall allocation to around 1,900.

Tickets are now on general sale for the game in which Robins’ men will be looking to extend their impressive unbeaten run to 11 games and claim their fifth straight league win.

However many fans make the 116mile trip to Lancashire, Robins and his players will continue to appreciate the support.

Speaking about the weekend’s turnout, the manager said: “Again, thanks to the supporters.

“It’s amazing the fact it’s been welldocumented on the news that the weather was going to be horrendous and they still came out and supported us.”
