FORMER Coventry City defender Jordan Turnbull has signed a two-year deal with Salford City.

The 25-year-old has joined the League Two club as a free agent after being released by Northampton Town, on the back of their play-off success.

Turnbull spent almost two years with the Sky Blues, which included a loan spell at Partick Thistle, before joining the Cobblers in January 2018.

“I’m very excited to be here, I’m happy it’s all sorted now,” he told Salford’s website. “It’s been something that’s happened quite quickly but I’m excited for what’s to come.

“We had a brilliant season last season, I managed to play a lot of games and we managed to get to the play-offs and go up through playing at Wembley.

“Brilliant experience, my first promotion on my CV and I’m looking to get many more. That’s one of the big reasons for coming to this football club.

“The vibe around the football club at the moment is very exciting and a lot is talked about promotion.

“When speaking to the manager the main topic was promotion, it’s what everyone wants and everyone is working towards, so it’s definitely one of the main reasons I want to come and play at this football club. I look to go out there and just give everything for the team. I like to think I bring a little bit of experience, even though I’m quite young.

“I’ve played a lot of games at this level last season, I got promoted, so hopefully I can help the team.”

Turnbull made more than 40 appearances during his time with Coventry, scoring two goals. He featured 42 times for Northampton last term, including starting their play-off final win over Exeter City to secure promotion to League One.
