ZAIN Westbrooke has sent a message to Coventry City fans following his move to Bristol Rovers.

The 23-year-old midfielder has joined League One club Rovers for an undisclosed fee and signed a three-year deal.

Westbrooke helped Coventry to win promotion to the Championship last season as League One champions.

He posted on Twitter: “Firstly would like to say thank you to everyone at @Coventry_city, staff, players and fans. I had an incredible 2 seasons and met life long friends and managed to get an unbelievable promotion, something I’ll never forget!”

Westbrooke made 41 appearances for Coventry in all competitions since joining as a free agent in 2018, scoring four goals.

He started his career at Brentford and had loan spells with Solihull Moors and Leyton Orient before he joined Coventry two years ago.

He played against Rovers three times in the season just completed, twice in the League and once in the FA Cup.

And their boss Ben Garner believes Bristol have pulled off a transfer “coup”.

Garner says Westbrooke will be a perfect fit.

“I am very happy that Zain has agreed to join us and feel it is a real coup for the football club,” Garner said.

“Zain has the qualities we were looking for in his position especially in terms of vision, technical ability, and work ethic. He is also still at an age where he can progress and develop much further.

“Zain is joining us on the back of a very successful season at Coventry, where he played a key role in them winning the League One title.

“His style of play and ambition matches ours and I believe he will be an excellent addition to the squad.”
