- By LEIGH CURTIS leigh.curtis@reachplc.com

COVENTRY City have decided to sell striker Jordan Ponticelli to Wrexham for an undisclosed fee.

The forward spent time on loan at the Racecourse last season and scored two goals in five games.

The 21-year-old joined the Sky Blues four years ago and has made 30 appearances and scored six goals.

He was part of the side that won promotion from League Two in the 2016-17 season.

Speaking on his move back to the Racecourse, Ponticelli said: “I’m delighted to be back.

“When I was here, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a good spell that I had, even though it wasn’t that long.

“I came here, I did well, I got some game time and it was a no-brainer really to come back once I knew the interest was still there.

“I wanted to come back and push on from where I left.

“I have more time now to play for the fans. They know I’ll work hard, and they know I can finish as well so hopefully I’ll score more goals too.”

A statement on Coventry’s website read: “We can confirm that striker Jordan Ponticelli has today left the Sky Blues to join Wrexham for an undisclosed fee.

“Everyone at Coventry City would like to wish Jordan all the best for the future.”

■ Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo has signed for Belgian club Cercle Brugge on loan.

The 21-year-old forward had been linked with a move to Coventry City, who were said to be keen on signing the player for the 2020-21 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

As it is, Ugbo has now made the move to Belgium, where he will spend the 2020-21 season.

Cercle Brugge say the deal include an option to buy the player at the end of the loan.

Ugbo has previously had loan spells with Barnsley, MK Dons and Scunthorpe United.
