We’ve missed many family gatherings!

-

IN response to Paul Sheehan’s letter on September 14 “How often do you eat out with six or more?”. I can tell Mr. Sheehan that the clan Mcdonald would regularly eat out with more than six people prior to the pandemic.

Being a big family spanning four generations, we all get together to celebrate each and every birthday or holiday. So the short answer to your question is, very often. You can have your nights out with four people but for our family it just isn’t feasible, we have already missed out on celebrating my recent birthday and many other birthdays during the pandemic.

I’m sure this is the case for countless other families around the country too. Perhaps you are the exception, as opposed to the rule. Andy Mcdonald, Tile Hill

We don’t want a version of Fox News

IT’S pretty obvious that the government has the BBC in its sights ready to stamp the conservatives version of how our public broadcasting service should operate after an ongoing campaign of criticism since the election.

Tim Davie the BBC’S new director general has a long track record with the Beeb and has pledged to restructure the service which seems to be what this Government have been demanding for some time.

While I agree that the BBC could do with a shake up in some areas I have a feeling that they are going to be subject to some political interference by Boris Johnson.

The BBC is respected throughout the planet and it’s never been afraid to hold politicians to account for their actions, which this arrogant government wishes to avoid. I appeal to all readers who value the BBC to protest if this happens, we don’t want a version of Fox News in the UK.
