Mcfadzean’s high hopes for season...

KYLE Mcfadzean has set out his and Coventry City’s ambitions for the club’s first season back in the Championship.
The Sky Blues see staying in the second tier as the priority but while some fans will be happy with a season of consolidation, Mcfadzean has set his sights far higher.
And the experienced centrehalf has seen what his home town club Sheffield United have achieved in recent years, rising from League One to the Premier League, and is convinced City have the same togetherness in the camp to follow a similar pathway of success.
“Every game is a big game in the Championship,” he said, looking forward to tonight’s first home game of the campaign against QPR.
“We have to test ourselves
Kyle Mcfadzean looks to break past Nahki Wells of Bristol City against the best and I am sure the lads are looking forward to it.
“I think we have got a good enough team to test the opposition and I think we will surprise a few this year.
“People are just saying we are just trying to stay up but we’re not. Our ambition is to do better than that this year, to get top half, if not the play-offs.
“I know people are saying it’s going to be tough but we have got to back ourselves. We have got a good manager and really good coach, and people behind us who work really hard.
“We have a good young squad, most of whom I think should be playing in the Championship anyway.”
The togetherness in the dressing room helped City win the League One title last season, so does he feel it’s going to be a big strength again this term?
“Definitely. We’ve seen what Sheffield United have done with their squad and togetherness and what they’re doing now, playing in the Premier League, and they’ve still got a lot of their squad together from League One.”
