55 fined over rule breaking parties

MORE than 50 revellers have been fined after being caught at different rule-breaking house parties by police.

A total of 55 people were fined £200 each after being caught by cops at the weekend.

Warwickshi­re Police revealed there were a number of house parties in the area last weekend.

But officers also had to fine takeaway and shop staff who were not wearing masks.

It comes as the force continues to clamp down on those who do not stick to the strict government rules.

Where were the fines? Friday night (October 16) - 15 people fined £200 after officers responded to a report of a house party in Rugby Road, Leamington.

Friday night - 10 people fined £200 after offices responded to a report of a house party in Kenilworth Road, Leamington.

Early hours of Saturday morning (October 17) - 10 people have been fined £200 after officers attended a report of a party in Warwick St, Leamington.

Saturday night (October 17) - 20 people fined £200 after officers attended a report of a party in Athorpe Street, Leamington.

Saturday night- £200 fine being issued to owner of a takeaway in Brinklow due to staff not wearing masks.

Sunday morning (October 18) - £200 fine issued after officers found staff were not wearing face coverings at a shop in Bond Street, Nuneaton.

Warwickshi­re Police has been clamping down on rule-breakers to help stop the spread of the virus. Superinten­dent Mike Smith, community policing lead said: “While most people are following the rules, there are still a lot of young people who think the rules do not apply to them and their reckless actions are putting other people at risk.

“As we have shown, where there are clear and deliberate breaches of Coronaviru­s legislatio­n we will not hesitate to take action.”
