Our first priority is to have club to follow

-

THE future may be looking uncertain for Coventry Rugby Club, but it is clear that whilst we have a chairman as passionate and committed as Jon Sharp (Coventry Telegraph, 09/10/2020) then our famous old club will have a fighting chance of not just surviving the current situation, but thriving for the next 146 years as well.

2020 has been in many ways a perfect storm for the club, with not just the impact of the lost revenue caused by the lockdown itself but also the unexpectedly swingeing cuts to the club’s playing budget by the RFU bean counters which has led to both changes on and off the pitch, with players moving on to pastures new, ground development being put on hold and community work being curtailed.

I am sure that all of my fellow supporters will agree that the first priority is having a club to support on Saturday afternoons as the alternative does not even bear thinking about.

New helpline set up to support children

THE arrival of autumn has been a difficult time for children and families with the impact of Covid-19.

At Barnardo’s we know that families in Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities have been hit hardest by the virus.

As a result, children in those communities are suffering.

They urgently need support to deal with a complex range of issues which is why Barnardo’s, in partnership with the National Emergencies Trust, and with the support of the Covid-19 Support Fund, has launched the UK’S first specialist helpline of its kind.

Call our helpline for specialist support on 0800 151 2605. H.sherriffe, Barnardo’s Regional Director
