Max: It will be great to see City fans at Ricoh again!

- By ANDY TURNER Sky Blues Reporter

MAX Biamou is looking forward to seeing Coventry City supporters again – back at the Ricoh Arena.

The fans’ favourite scored the goal to secure a vital three points for the Sky Blues in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over relegation rivals Derby County.

Mark Robins’ men have a formidable record at their groundshare venue that has become their temporary home for the last 18 months, losing just six games in 35, but a deal is hoped to be finally agreed this week for a return to the city and the Ricoh.

It’s understood that a tenyear agreement between stadium owners Wasps and the football club should be signed off this week with a break clause which would allow City to move to a proposed new ground on the University of Warwick site after between five and seven years.

The Telegraph also understands that it’s the best deal yet in terms of the revenue streams the Sky Blues will enjoy from food and beverages, and car parking, which, along with increased ticket sales, is vital to helping the club remain competitive with their budget in the second tier. Asked what it will mean to the club, players and supporters to go back to the Ricoh Arena playing Championship football next season, the 30-year-old frontman expressed the importance of going back to the place that he says feels like their own, saying: “The Ricoh Arena is our stadium and it is very important to go back.

“And at the same time I hope the fans are coming back.

“We know we haven’t got enough fans coming when we are playing here (at St Andrew’s) so it is very important for the club and the city.

“To have a Championship side in that stadium, it will definitely be buzzing.

“Fingers crossed, we can go back to the Ricoh.”
