Adi is a vocal presence on the touchline

- By ANDY TURNER

COVENTRY City achieved a huge confidence boosting victory at the weekend by taking a valuable three points off fellow strugglers Derby County.

Here are some of the things you might have missed from the weekend’s crucial win.

Pass the throat sweets

A regular sound in these irregular times with no supporters at games is the booming voice of passionate Sky Blues assistant manager Adi Viveash.

While Mark Robins stands calmly in his technical area, his trusty side-kick is often in an animated state patrolling the touchline and barking instructions to the players – so much so that he regularly sounds like he’s shouted himself hoarse.

The 51-year-old coach is almost challenging for every ball as he orders players into shape to ensure they take up their rightful position on the pitch.

Robins explained: “That’s the passion and he’s actually coaching through the game.”

Happy anniversary

n

Saturday marked the fourth anniversary of Mark Robins being in charge of the Sky Blues.

The City boss was appointed for a second time on March 6, 2017, a day after the club sacked Russell Slade with the team bottom of the league.

Although Robins couldn’t save the Sky Blues from the drop, the process of turning the club round started with winning the Checkatrade Trophy, followed by two promotions to get back to the Championship.

And it was fitting that the 51-year-old celebrated four years in the job with a vital win.

Is it really one year on!

n

Talking of anniversaries, the weekend also marked 12 months since the Sky Blue Army last saw their team in the flesh in the last fixture before the first national lockdown.

Matty Godden got the only goal of the game in a fantastic 1-0 away win at Ipswich Town after which the players and staff were all convinced they were going up.

Fittingly, Saturday’s win by the same scoreline left a similar feeling of confidence about City’s ability to stay in the Championship.
