Encouraging injury news over Fankaty

-

COVENTRY City boss Mark Robins has revealed hugely encouraging news as he prepares his side for the last seven make or break games of the Championship season.

Star Sky Blues wing-back Fankaty Dabo limped off against Wycombe just before the international break to add to a season of horrendous injuries for the club.

The 25-year-old pulled up with a hamstring strain just before the break to compound a stop-start season for the marauding wide man.

Elsewhere, defender Michael Rose limped off with a nasty gash to his groin area at QPR on Good Friday while fellow centre-half Dom Hyam was conspicuous by his absence against Bristol City on Monday.

Here’s the latest injury news from the Sky Blues camp...

FANKATY DABO: It was initially feared that Dabo would be out for at least a month, with the manager admitting at the time that he would be missing until “near as damn it the end of the season.”

However, the fans’ favourite is clearly ahead of schedule in his recovery, with Robins revealing after Monday’s 3-1 victory: “Dabo maybe back at the back end of next week.”

That would be a huge boost to City’s survival hopes, with Dabo potentially ready to return against Rotherham, or Barnsley a week on Sunday.

DOM HYAM: The centre-half has been virtually ever present this season but came down with illness over the weekend, forcing him to miss Monday’s match, but should be recovered ahead of Saturday’s difficult trip to Bournemouth.

MICHAEL ROSE: The rightsided centre-half limped off holding his groin after 66 minutes at Loftus Road on Good Friday, having suffered a nasty gash to a delicate area of his anatomy which required stitches. Still too sore to feature against Bristol City, Robins admits he’s still not sure of his availability ahead of the weekend.

MAX BIAMOU: The popular French striker had an injection in his troubled knee going into the international break, hoping the intervention would help the injury which he has continued to play through for months.

However, it aggravated the issue and a second injection was given, from which Biamou is now recovering.

As with Rose, it’s a ‘wait and see’ situation this week.
