Nine neighbours scoop £30,000 each in Lottery
NINE Nuneaton neighbours have scooped incredible £30,000 each in the Postcode Lottery.
They were left stunned on Tuesday April 20, when their postcode - CV10 9QW - was announced as the winner of the cash prize.
One of the lucky residents, Ian Harris, 56, was told of his prize win during a video call with lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson.
After seeing how much he had won he said he felt on top of the world and added: “It’s brilliant, absolutely superb.”
He was joined on the special video call by his wife of 35 years, Sharon.
On seeing the prize amount, she cheered and said: “Oh wow! This doesn’t seem real, this is amazing!”
The couple, who have lived at the postcode in the Whittleford area for nearly two decades couldn’t wait to share the news with the rest of their family.
“We’re a really close family, we’ve got eight children, five grandchildren,” Mrs Harris said.
“We’ll have to video call everyone.”
Now the couple are planning on how to spend their winnings.
“We owe a small amount left on our mortgage, we’ll get rid of that,” she said. “We’ve got teenage boys at home so we’ll treat them and we have got a holiday booked in Greece next July so we’ll pay that off.”
When asked how they might celebrate, Ian, who works in distribution for a supermarket, said he hoping to arrange a family get together next month while Sharon added: “I’ve got prosecco chilled in the fridge but I might have to upgrade to champagne.”
The other winners were not available to receive their cheque by video call, or chose to remain anonymous, but their winnings will be transferred into their bank accounts.
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: “It was so nice to speak to Ian and Sharon and give them this fantastic news. I hope they can get that family get together organised soon!
“Congratulations to them and all our other Nuneaton winners.”
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day.
A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £700 million for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.
The draw was promoted on behalf of Postcode Planet Trust. Through regular grant funding, the trust supports charities and good causes working to protect and promote our environment and wildlife. Funded charities include WWF-UK, Marine Conservation Society and The Wildlife Trusts.
