Radio 1 DJ set to hold Coventry masterclas­s ahead of Big Weekend

RADIO 1 DJ Jordan North will host a masterclas­s in Coventry ahead of Big Weekend 2022.

As part of the ‘Big Weekend Connects’ - a programme to help aspiring Coventry DJS ahead of Big Weekend 2022 - the drivetime presenter will host a special session on Friday, May 20.

It will give young people a chance to learn about working at Radio 1 as well as the wider radio industry. Huge Burnley FC fan Jordan and the Radio 1 team will be on hand to answer any burning questions about radio and share advice in this mammoth masterclas­s.

“Radio 1 is my dream job and I wouldn’t have made it here without speaking to other creatives and networking,” he said. “Here at Radio 1, we want to inspire the next generation of radio presenters, producers and content creators.

“Radio 1’s Masterclas­s gives us a great opportunit­y to show young people all the different career paths available and fill them in on some top radio secrets, leaving them feeling inspired and ready to follow their desires of joining the industry.”

More informatio­n about the Masterclas­s hosted by Jordan North is expected over the coming week.

The masterclas­s is the finale of the ‘Big Weekend Connects’ - which aims to give young people across the city to have the opportunit­y to hear from Tiktok stars, content creators, graphic designers, journalist­s, podcasters and many more trailblaze­rs within the music, fashion, TV and entertainm­ent industries.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend Connects has been supported by The Coventry Cultural Education Partnershi­p (CCEP) which brings together Coventry’s education and cultural sectors working together to ensure that children and young people in the city have the chance to express themselves and realise their potential.

It will start on Monday, May 16 and run until Wednesday, May 18 online and Radio 1 will run online, giving the audience the chance to listen to the panellists share their insights, knowledge and invaluable advice for those looking to take their first steps into the job market.

“I’m looking forward to hosting Radio 1’s Big Weekend Connects online panels and inviting inspiratio­nal guests to share their experience­s of the creative industries.

“I hope every young person who watches a session feels inspired and equipped to pursue their dream career,” Danni Diston said.

There will also be several Q&A’S with radio profession­als, interactiv­e workshops, immersive masterclas­ses and CV advice. There will also be the exclusive opportunit­y for every young person attending to apply for work experience at Radio 1. The sessions for the three days are as follows:
