Fans hope their favourite finally gets to flourish

-

COVENTRY City fans have been reacting to the news that Jodi Jones is leaving the club this summer after six largely injuryplayed years.

But the 24-year-old captured the hearts of Sky Blues fans, first with his eye-catching performances and then with the way he tackled his painful journey back from three cruciate knee ruptures that stopped his hugely promising career in its tracks.

That love from the supporters was reciprocated by the player who drew strength during the dark days of his rehabilitation from their affection and will for him to return to his best.

He was handed another season to get himself going when finally clear of his last knee injury and made an impact during a handful of cameo displays from the bench but limited game time, not helped by niggling injuries and Covid, meant manager Mark Robins made what must have been a very difficult decision to let him go rather than trigger another season at the CBS Arena.

Here’s what fans have been saying about his departure:

Mike Seaton: Tough, but possibly necessary decision on Jones. Let’s hope he can find fitness and a club where he can reach his full potential. League 1 clubs should be seriously looking at him. Thanks for everything JJ.

Connor West: Gutted for Jodi

Jones and Jordan Shipley. Whatever club get them, will have a brilliant player.

Robbie Fisk: I actually didn’t expect Jodi to go but the injuries have killed him, real shame because I think he’s got potential to be a very good player.

The worst Cov account: This guy will light up the pitch wherever he ends up next.

Brett: Sad to see. Terribly unlucky over the last few years. Hopefully gets a good club and gets to play regularly next season.

Jamie.horror: Gutted, personally wanted him to stay for another year and get some game time after his injuries. All the best Jodi hope you will be a sky blues supporter from now on.

Neil Littelwoord: As gutting as it is that Jodi is moving on for him, it’s probably the best move for all parties. I wish him well.

Adam Reeve: Feel for Jones – hope his career flourishes somewhere and he comes back to play us for a nice send off.

Skybluezam: Good luck for the future chap. Bags and bags of skill and an asset to whoever you go to next. Thanks for the memories.

Luke Jackson: Quite shocked about Jodi, especially after Robins said he was the key to us stepping up another level. I think a year extension would’ve been fair.
