Crews battle deliberate grass fire
FIRE crews battled a fire on grassland in Coventry that is believed to have been started deliberately. The flames were spotted near to the River Sowe behind Darnford Close in Walsgrave.
Fire service bosses say the fire is thought to have been set on purpose. Luckily it was extinguished by crews before it was a able to spread.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “Firefighters from Binley fire station responded to a small fire on grassland near Darnford Close at 5.40pm on
Friday afternoon (June 17). They arrived five minutes after being mobilised and extinguished the fire believed to have been started deliberately - using beaters and buckets of water.”
It is not known who started the fire.
West Midlands Police has been approached for more information.
