HAVE A BLAST WITH THIS ROCKET SHIP CRAFT

-

You could have your own space race by making one (or more) of these flying straw rockets

YOU WILL NEED:

A paper drinking straw; paper; thin card; tissue paper; sticky tape; scissors; coloured pens or pencils

METHOD

1. Cut a strip of paper measuring approximately 3cm by 10cm. Wrap it as closely as you can around your drinking straw and secure with tape to make a tube. Slide the tube off your straw, fold one end over and tape it down (see picture 1).

2. Draw a rocket (approximately 10cm in height) on some paper or thin card. Cut it out and decorate it.

3. Stick some thin tissue paper ‘flames’ to the bottom of your rocket if you wish.

4. Tape the paper tube on the back of your rocket, open end at the bottom (see picture 2). Insert the end of the straw about 5mm into the tube.

5. Blow into the bottom of the straw and your rocket will fly into the air.
