Alex returns to Brakes for second stint

-

MANAGER Paul Holleran is looking forward to new signing Alex Prosser making a big impression second time around at Leamington.

The 23-year-old midfielder played eight times with the Brakes last season but his loan spell was unfortunately cut short due to injury.

But Holleran moved quickly to sign the former Aston Villa youngster after he left Brackley Town. He had plenty of experience in the National League North having spent two spells at Brackley and also a season with Kidderminster Harriers.

“Alex is obviously somebody that we were aware of from his loan with us last season,” said Holleran.

“He was just a bit unfortunate that he developed an injury early on during his time with us, and as much as he tried to carry on playing with it, we had to pull him out eventually. It was disappointing because he was someone that we really liked. It was something that he was able to sort out early in the New Year and he got back into the Brackley squad.

“He’ll be disappointed with last year and the injuries but he’s in good condition now, he’s ready to go, and we’re hoping that he can have a big impact for us.

“We saw little signs of what he can do last time he was here but sadly it was shortlived due to the injury, so hopefully we’ll get longer periods out of him this time, and I’m sure he’ll be a good asset to the club.”

Prosser said: “It’s a group that I know well from my short spell last season that I really enjoyed. The staff, players and people around the club give me the belief that we can go and have a really strong season this year.”

Meanwhile, Joe Clarke and Connor Taylor are the latest members of last season’s squad to agree terms for the 2022/2023 campaign.

Midfielder Clarke, who begins his sixth season at Leamington having signed from Tamworth in 2017, is closing in on 200 appearances for Brakes.

Taylor spent the majority of last season at Southern League side Bromsgrove Sporting, but with Brakes still holding his National League North registration he returned for the final ten league games.
