Champs in £45m deal for Phillips

-

MANCHESTER City have reportedly agreed a fee of up to £45million with Leeds for England midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The Premier League champions have had an offer of £42m for the 26-year-old, with an extra £3m in potential add-ons, accepted by the Yorkshire club.

An agreement has also been reached for City Academy midfielder Darko Gyabi to move in the opposite direction.

Vincent Kompany accepts he faces a squad rebuilding job at Burnley but is not fazed by the task ahead of him.

The financially-troubled Clarets, who confirmed Kompany as their new manager last week, have lost a raft players since their relegation from the Premier League.

Ben Mee, James Tarkowski and Nick Pope are among those to have left while there is also uncertainty over others including Nathan Collins, Maxwel Cornet and Wout Weghorst.

“It goes with the potential drop in revenues when you fall out of the Premier League,” said former Manchester City defender Kompany. “You always have to expect some of your valuable players to move on but it is (still) a team with some experienced players and a depth of quality, certainly for the Championship.”

Swansea have signed former MK Dons wideman Matthew Sorinola on a seasonlong loan from Belgian club Union SG.

The move reunites Sorinola with Swansea boss Russell Martin as the 21-year-old played for the former Scotland defender in Milton Keynes.

Lambeth-born Sorinola made 46 appearances for the Dons before moving to Belgium last July and can operate as a winger or a wing-back.

Sorinola follows defenders Nathan Wood, Harry Darling and Wasiri Williams in arriving at Swansea this summer.

Bristol Rovers have been charged by the Football Association following a pitch invasion towards the end of their 7-0 win over Scunthorpe which sealed promotion on the final day of the Sky Bet League Two season.
