Former City youth coach joins Villa

-

FORMER Coventry City Under-23s boss Luke Tisdale has been appointed to the coaching staff of Aston Villa Women.

Tisdale worked for the Sky Blues for eight seasons, ending his stay at the Championship club last month as head coach of the development squad that won their league last month.

The 32-year-old will become first team coach under Carla Ward, while former Burton coach Sam Rose is appointed as assistant manager for the women’s Super League side.

First team manager Carla Ward said: “I am delighted to welcome both Sam and Luke to the football club. We conducted a thorough interview process that focused on important areas on and off the pitch.

We believe the strengths of both Sam and

Luke will compliment the rest of the staffing group to help drive Luke Tisdale our standards and bring in fresh ideas.

“Both Sam and Luke have a strong history of developing teams as well as individuals. Both are very detailed coaches and have a hunger to make players better and compete at a high level. I look forward to working with them across the season.”

Tisdale joined the Sky Blues on a full-time basis in August 2014, initially working at the Alan Higgs Centre as youth development phase coach. He progressed to the role of under-23s head coach at the start of the 2019/20 season.

Confirming his departure, Coventry City chief executive Dave Boddy said last month: “We would like to thank Luke for his time at the club and the hard work and dedication that he has shown to the Sky Blues over the years. Everyone at the club wishes Luke the very best of luck for the future.”

Tisdale added: “I would like to thank all the players for their incredible effort this season, they have been a brilliant group to coach, and I would like to particularly thank the under-23s and first-team staff for all the support they have given this season.

“It’s been a brilliant seven years at Coventry City and I look forward to watching the whole football club succeed again next season.”
