Lotto joy for Lions youngsters

-

SMILES lit up the pitch at Webb Ellis Road as young players received new training equipment thanks to their supporters on Rugby Lotto.

Launched in 2019, Rugby Lotto was set up to support community projects in the local area, one of which being the minis and juniors section at Rugby Lions.

Funds raised have now provided new equipment for their minis including new rugby balls, cones and tag belts in the club’s aim to make rugby accessible for all children across the borough.

Minis and juniors vice-chairman Jamie Lambert said: “We have worked hard to make our hometown sport accessible for all throughout the recent tough economic times following the bounce-back from the pandemic and the current cost of living crisis.

“With the help of those who selected us as their ‘chosen good cause’ on Rugby Lotto, we have been able to use these raised funds to purchase new training equipment, enabling us to dramatically reduce the cost of subs for parents.

“As our club approaches its 150 year anniversary in 2023, this is part of our plan to make rugby accessible for all children across the borough in what will be the 200th anniversary of this great sport.”

When purchasing your £1 Rugby Lotto ticket, you are asked to select your good cause who will receive 50p for each ticket you purchase.

A further 10p from every ticket goes towards other local good causes. In return, supporters have the chance to win cash prizes up to a massive £25,000 jackpot. Tickets can be bought at rugbylotto.org/ support/rugby-lions-minis-andjuniors.

Rugby Lions Minis continue to welcome new players and are offering two week’s free taster sessions to all boys and girls in school years 1–4. They also run a parent and child Cubs section for youngsters aged 2–5.
