Premiership duo linked to Wasps pair
SARACENS and Exeter Chiefs are understood to be the latest two clubs to start talks with players who were made redundant by Wasps.
Biyi Alo and Josh Bassett became the first members of the Wasps squad to find new clubs as Racing 92 and Harlequins secured their signatures this week while centre Will Simonds has joined National League One side Chinnor.
Now the Coventry Telegraph understands that two front-row forwards are progressing with talks to remain in Dan Frost the Gallagher Premiership.
Hooker Dan Frost joined from Cornish Pirates ahead of the 2020/21 season, scoring seven tries in 25 appearances for Wasps.
The Taunton-born Bath academy graduate reportedly attracted the interest of Exeter before he signed a new Wasps deal recently. Now that contract has been ripped up, Frost is once more linked with a move to Sandy Park as Exeter brace themselves for losing Luke Cowan-dickie for the Autumn internationals.
Frost’s front-row colleague Robin Hislop could also remain in the top flight, with Saracens a possible next destination for the Scotsman.
The loosehead prop joined Wasps from Doncaster Knights in the summer of 2021 and pulled on the Black and Gold 26 times, and was called up to the Scotland squad last Autumn without making his senior international debut.
Hislop had a spell with Saracens from September 2020 when he operated as front-row cover for Eroni Mawi and Ralph Adams-hale, making three substitute appearances in the Premiership.
Mako Vunipola, who returns from suspension this weekend, will then spend November away with England in the Autumn internationals.
Mawi started Saracens’ last game against Bath but was replaced before half-time and has also been selected by Fiji for their forthcoming international games.
