Hospital says sorry over car park confusion

- BY CLAIRE HARRISON PA Reporter

BOSSES at Nuneaton’s hospital have apologised for parking problems following issues with the barriers at the main car park and payment machines.

Some patients and visitors were left confused about the situation in the main car park at the George Eliot Hospital.

The barriers were broken and the pay machines inside the hospital was ‘out of order,’ leaving people in a quandary over if they needed to pay or not.

One visitor said: “Over the past two weeks, possibly longer the main entrance car park barriers have been up both sides and the paying machines inside the hospital is showing out of order signs. Staff are informing some patients not to worry, as the camera is broken so there is no need to pay.

“One man used the intercom on the barrier to speak with someone from the car park company who informed him you do not have to pay. However the outside pay machine is in working order and there are huge queues to pay there, yet some people are leaving, having not paid as informed by the car park owners and main reception staff.

“I feel the lack of communication and uncertainty of a possible fine for those paying and not is really poor.”

We contacted the George Eliot Hospital about the situation on the main car park and a spokesman said that the issues have now been fixed but they are keeping an eye on the situation.

“We apologise for the problems that our parking system has been suffering recently,” the spokesman said.

“These have now been fixed and we are monitoring the situation.”
