A MEMORIAL labyrinth to remember all those who died in the Covid-19 pandemic has been created at a Nuneaton church. It is in the All Saints churchyard and, at the centre of it, lies a special memorial stone.

Its creation has brought the community together, with the labyrinth being made by the church and local residents and the central stone was donated by Devall and Son Family Funeral Directors. The stone is inscribed with the following: “The memorial stone commemorates all those who have died in the Covid-19 pandemic and all those affected, both mentally and physically.

“We remember with gratitude all the key workers who selflessly gave of their time and skills during this period. It was on 11th of March 2020 that the World Health Organisation declared the Covid-19 outbreak as a global pandemic. Even though I walk through the valley of a shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”

Reverend Frank Seldon, Vicar of All Saints Church, said: “The labyrinth represents a journey to our own centre and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. It seems a fitting and lasting reminder of the impact the pandemic has had on our community here in Nuneaton and the wider world. “As you walk slowly along the path that leads to the centre take time to remember someone who touched you during the pandemic. Remember good things as well as difficult times. You may want to offer these thoughts to God. When you get to the centre, take time to read the inscription which will be a reminder of the pandemic for generations to come.” The memorial was officially unveiled during a ceremony on Saturday (December 3) in which all those who contributed towards it were thanked.
