NETFLIX’S new spin-off series Wednesday, based on The Addams Family, has hit our TV screens. And Moosa Mostafa, 14, from Warwickshire, is one of the breakout stars of the show, playing Eugene Otinger.

The show features Hollywood A-listers such as Christina Ricci, who also starred in the hit 1991 movie The Addams Family, and Welsh siren Catherine Zeta Jones, who plays Morticia Adams (Wednesday’s mum). Speaking to the BBC, Moosa revealed how he finds it ‘odd’ when random people come up to him and say hello.

“When I go to Leamington or into town with my friends, there’ll be someone that comes and says omg I saw you in Wednesday,” he said. “It’s odd walking around like I’m normal which wouldn’t happen normally.”

His mum, Rima, has been left stunned by Moosa’s rise, but is determined to keep him grounded. She said: “We’re keen to keep him balanced; especially with this show being so big and lots of excitement about it.

“He still goes to school and we are trying to keep normality in his life.”

Moosa enjoys coming home and being a normal 14-year-old ‘to have that escape.’

“I definitely want to go to university at some point, it’s always nice to have something on the side as a back up,” he added.

The show is based on Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, and follows her not-so-normal school life at Nevermore Academy.

The series has creepy, mysterious and spooky vibes as Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability.

It also charts her attempt to prevent a monstrous killing spree that has frightened the local town and sees her solve the mystery that first embroiled her parents over 20 years previously.

After meeting at the beekeeping society Eugene becomes Wednesday’s first real friend at school. Otinger also has psychic abilities where he can control the bees and use them to attack others.

Wednesday, which launched on November 23, is Moosa’s third professional acting role with his first on-screen appearance coming in Nativity Rocks! where he played one of the kids at St Bernadette’s Primary School. He also starred in Netflix sci-fi series The Last Bus playing the character Nas alongside Tom Basden and Robert Shaheen.
