Holleran is unanimous choice to stay as Brakes boss

-

PAUL Holleran remains the ‘best person for the job’ after Leamington confirmed the long-serving manager will lead them in their bid to bounce back from relegation.

The Brakes chairman Jim Scott said Holleran had the club’s unanimous support to enter his 15th season as Leamington boss.

Holleran, who has guided Leamington to promotion twice from the Southern Premier League already, and been in charge for 661 competitive games since he was appointed as manager in 2009.

“It was an easy discussion to be had in the boardroom with unanimous support for Paul continuing in his role,” said Scott.

“With his vast experience and knowledge we fully believe he is the best person for the job.

“His loyalty to the club has been exemplary throughout his time with us.

“It will be a tough task for the season ahead as he looks to build a competitive squad aimed at giving us an opportunity to gain promotion.

“With so many local midlands clubs it means that we are all fishing in the same pool for players. Let’s enjoy the challenge.

“One plus for the season ahead is that with so many local games we should have good support on the road. ”

The Brakes, relegated from Step Two after six seasons in the National League North, will plan for next season without club legend James Mace, Kelsey Mooney and Louis

Hall.

The club confirmed they have all left for new pastures.

Defender Mace, who joined in 2011 from Hinckley, and became the Brakes record apperance maker since they were reformed.

“James has to go down as one of my best-ever signings,” said Holleran.

“Great pace, great attitude and a never say die attitude made him very difficult for opposition forwards to play against.

“It is going to seem strange not having him around anymore as he has been in the dressing room for almost my entire time as manager of the club.

“I am sad to see him leave and I along with everyone at the club wish him well and every success.”
