Pop star to pay for fans’ final voyage

-

SINGER-SONGWRITER has offered to pay for a Coventry City fan from Argentina to watch the Championship play-off final next weekend.

Coventry supporter Lauti was planning to sell his car so he could fly over to the UK and buy a ticket to watch his beloved Sky Blues at Wembley, but fellow Sky Blue Grennan (pictured)has stepped in and offered to pay his expenses so he can watch the match without it hitting him in the pocket.

“What happened is just unbelievable.,” Lauti said about Coventry’s date at Wembley to BBC Sport Coventry & Warwickshire. “I have no words to describe what I am feeling now. When I started to support Coventry we were playing at Wembley too, but we were playing against Exeter in

League Two so I never expected this.

“This is more than a dream come true. I am selling my car. I think my girl is not happy because I am selling it to go to Wembley. We are one game away from our dream, from playing again in the Premier League so vamos Sky Blues.”

Grennan then replied to the interview, which was posted on Twitter. He wrote: “I WILL PAY FOR THIS LAD !!!! I can’t go to the final as I’m performing at BBCR1 weekend in Dundee.

“Devastated to miss the game, but instead I’ll pay for this lad to come over for the game. Does he have a ticket? Someone let me know.”

Ironically, 27-year-old Grennan trained to be a professional footballer in his youth, and spent time on the books of Luton, Coventry’s opponents at Wembley on May 27 (4.45pm kick-off).

The Sky Blues have already sold just over 30,000 tickets, and roughly 6,000 remain ahead of the final.
