JODI Jones has signed permanently for Notts County after guiding the Magpies back into the Football League.

The winger, who spent six injury-ravaged years at Coventry City, finished last season on loan at Meadow Lane having signed for Oxford last summer.

After making only five substitute appearances for the Us in League One, he was loaned to Notts County where he scored the play-off semi-final goal that sent them to Wembley. Once there he came off the bench and helped Luke Williams’ team win a penalty shoot-out to secure a return to league football.

Notts have today confirmed he has signed a two-year deal with them, with an announcement on their website saying: “We, along with our head coach Luke Williams, share our supporters’ appreciation of Jodi’s obvious talent and love for the game.

“His football fanaticism is so apparent in his distinctive playing style and how hard he works for the team. He embodies the type of player and person we want to have at the club and we’re really excited to see him at the peak of his powers once he’s had a full pre-season.

“After everything Jodi has been through, we’re so pleased we were able to give him the platform to perform last season and the memories of him celebrating against Boreham Wood will live long in everyone’s memory. We know how determined Jodi is to progress from here, not only for himself but also his incredibly supportive family, and we’re behind him all the way.”

Jones was a popular figure at Coventry City, whom he joined in 2016 and helped win promotion from League Two only to suffer a nightmarish sequence of knee injuries. In his final season for the Sky Blues he managed just 12 matches but bounced back with 32 in all competitions last term.
