RISING STAR CAMERON HEADS FEMALE-FOCUSED BILL AT MOTOFEST

- By KIRSTIE MCCRUM News Reporter

THE Motofest After Party concert has unveiled its full line-up this Saturday (June 3).

BBC Introducing rising star Cameron Hayes is set to wow crowds as the headline act at Motofest Coventry’s new big music event.

The event has made much of its “full female-friendly festival line-up”, with every act on the bill, including the headliner, either featuring a female singer or a female band member. With recent Sky News Research revealing that only 20% of UK music festivals will have female headliners in 2023, the Motofest After Party says it will buck the trend.

The free-to-attend Motofest After Party, at Warwick Road in Coventry city centre, will welcome 23-year-old singer/songwriter Cameron Hayes to the stage.

Next on the bill is exciting, young female-fronted, Brightonbased indie band, Niches.

With soaring vocals and uplifting melodies are a must for fans of the indie music sound.

Blues and rock act, Born Healer, from south west London, has British Blues Award nominee Helen Turner as their lead singer, with Helen getting 2023 off to a great start with a nomination for the UK Blues Federation’s best vocalist award.

The final female-fronted band on the bill is East London-based indie rock band, Emma and the Fragments. The band’s blend of indie rock, punk, and pop helps create something truly special. In 2021 they won the Wigwam Radio Best Indie Rock Act Award.

Jeremy Heaver, Motofest Coventry Director and main organiser of the Motofest After Party, said: “The Motofest After Party is a mix of different musical genres – pop, blues, rock and indie – offering something for everyone attending our big Saturday night event.

“It’s also most importantly one of the only UK festival line-ups this summer to feature a full, female-friendly festival line-up – with Cameron Hayes as our headliner and women either as lead vocalists or band members in the other acts featured at the Motofest After Party. In just the same way that Motofest has championed female racing drivers on our circuit, we are putting

female performers and musicians at the heart of our concert line-up.

“Let’s hope it inspires other festivals and music events to follow suit going forward. With regular music stages, family activities and new innovations such as our food village, supported by Digbeth Dining Club, we are delighted to offer a true entertainment extravaganza for this year’s festival, with something sensational for everyone.”

The Motofest After Party is part of a broader entertainment menu featuring a host of activities across the weekend. In addition to the main concert on Saturday night, there will be live music across both days with various stages featuring local Coventry and West Midlands performers and community groups.

Motofest Coventry, in partnership with E.ON Drive, is a two-day festival dedicated to Coventry’s motoring heritage, on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4. For more details, visit https:// www.coventrymotofest.com/
