New Mayor picks Myton as Charity of the Year
THE Myton Hospices is proud to announce that newly appointed Mayor of Rugby Councillor Maggie O’rourke has chosen us to be her Charity of the Year for her term in office.
Cllr O’rourke, a former pharmacist at St Cross Hospital in Rugby, spoke of her history with Myton, saying: “I was involved in the campaign to build Rugby Myton Hospice and its success demonstrated anything is possible when you combine collaboration with determination.”
Cllr O’rourke plans to support Myton through her year as Mayor, focusing on several of our services available in Rugby, such as the Rugby Myton Support Hub, the Information Hub at our Church St shop and Myton at Home. She will work closely with our Patient and Carer Wellbeing Lead, Tracey Evans, with whom she has worked with previously during their time in the NHS in former roles.
Maggie added: “This year, I want to bring Rugby’s communities together in the same spirit to support the hospice’s ambitions to create a ‘chill out’ room for children and expand the hospice garden, which both promise to make a real difference to the quality of care the hospice offers.”
Ruth Freeman, CEO at The Myton Hospices, said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Maggie and are incredibly grateful for her continued support of Myton.”
Myton is grateful for the support of Maggie O’rourke and the council of Rugby with our ongoing efforts to provide care for patients and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.
