Shining light on volunteers helping Myton

-

VOLUNTEERS Week is a time for us to recognise and appreciate the amazing individuals who generously give their time to help The Myton Hospices.

This week, we are shining a light on some of our incredible retail volunteers who are making a significant contribution to our goal of funding one in four patients through this avenue.

Mick Ogden is 75 years old and has been retired for many years. Volunteering for Myton since May 2021, he first thought about volunteering with Myton when he took part in a carol singing event in aid of Myton at his local pub. After thoroughly enjoying the event and reading up on Myton, Mick decided to take the plunge and volunteer his time.

Alongside Mick, Adrian Futter, aged 72, has been volunteering at our Church St charity shop in Rugby since October 2018.

Adrian’s wife spent 20 days at Warwick Myton Hospice before she died in July 2018, and prior to that he looked after her for three and a half years. After her death, Adrian felt lost and wanted to give something back. He says volunteering at Myton was the obvious choice.

When asked what he would say to other people considering volunteering at a Myton shop he said:

“Go for it, why not give it a try and see if you like it. There are a variety of things to do and you can find your niche – I like sorting books. It’s flexible and you can come when suits you.”

These amazing volunteers are just a small example of the thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time to make a difference. We are grateful to each and every one of our volunteers who play such a vital role in our organisation’s success.
