School tributes to ‘loved and respected’ staff member
TRIBUTES have poured in following the death of a ‘loved and respected’ staff member at Finham Park School. Teresa Hughes was reported to have died over Easter.
Teresa spent 26 years as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Finham Park School.
She supported ‘countless’ young people during that time and was said to be ‘protective of those with whom she worked closely.’
Her unexpected death has sparked an outpouring of grief from staff and students who described her as being ‘respected and well-loved.’
Headteacher Mr Bishop said her passing has come as a ‘huge shock.’
Mr Bishop said: “She was a respected, active and well-loved member of our Finham Park School family. Indeed, she has been a part of the fixtures and fittings that make Finham so special for over 26 years.
“Students with special educational needs and disabilities that she supported all have an enriched life as a result of her direct input and support into their education and pastoral development.
“She was a firm advocate of selfimprovement as she believed that to be the key to ensuring she could give the children and young people in her care the very best opportunities and life chances that they deserved.”
He added: “It is a sad time in the life of our school community with staff and pupils clearly affected by the sudden passing of Teresa. It is a shock. Thank you for your support as always.”
Tributes have poured in for Teresa, who was remembered for being ‘lovely and kind.’ Counsellors are said to be available for those who had been receiving direct input or support from Ms Hughes.
Reuben Mckenzie-duff said: “RIP Theresa. I will never forget her! She was the best staff member at Finham Park School.” George Ireland said: “What a lovely lady she was!”
Julia Elizabeth Chiarello wrote: “I remember this lady. She supported me in the classroom in around 20042006. She was so lovely.”
Lucy Jo Olorenshaw commented: “Such a lovely, kind person. Always a pleasure to have her in my classroom supporting students. She will be greatly missed.”
