BASIC COMPETITION — WIN £100

-

CRASH magazine never had BASIC listings for readers to type in within its many pages — this was left to competing magazines to cover. Typing in lines and lines of BASIC code was a big part of what the Spectrum was for me.

So, from this issue of CRASH, we are introducing a competition — to take a brand new game, developed for us exclusively by QuangDX, and enhance it. This could be by adding new graphics, sound, levels or even extending the concept of the game further— this will all be down to you. We will provide you with the listing in .z80 format (you can download it here: https:// tinyurl.com/3sbyuw8u), that you can then load into your favourite emulator (we love Spectaculator) and off you go. Quang and the review team will then judge the games sent in, and the winner will be announced in the next issue of CRASH, and will win £100.

The game this month is called Back n Forth — a simple but addictive game where you simply have to press SPACE to send your ship left and right avoiding the enclosing wall.

The winning listing will be published for all to see, with permission of course. We would also like to publish all submissions online, so that CRASH readers can learn from your programming skills, and maybe enter future competitions.

Down the road, the idea is to then amalgamate all the magazine listings into a small book — an official CRASH release, that will look nice on your book shelf.

Ongoing development discussions will take place on our Facebook group: https://tinyurl.com/mp8t7ubk

The competition is open to those who purchase this issue of CRASH — compo end date: 21st June.

Once you have finished your game, send your .z80 file (with proof of purchase) to: chris@crashmagazine.co.uk
