ADVENTURE TRAIL

- COLIN BELL’S

Colin Bell takes a look at the latest shenanigans in the adventure world.

Greetings, my fellow adventurers! I’m glad to see you all once more in our fifth exciting issue of CRASH Micro Action and don’t we have a chock full Adventure Trail for you all this month. But where are my manners? Please allow me to introduce myself, Colin Bell here, CRASH Dungeon Master and guide to the world of high ‘ZX 8-bit’ adventure at your service.

As the great British summertime draws to an end for yet another year, there’s a slight chill in the air that signals the onset of the coming Autumn and the darker nights that lie ahead. This seasonal change also signals a restlessness within the CRASH Dungeon as its many inhabitants begin to stir and awake from their summer slumber, looking for new adventurers too, shall we say, invite round for dinner. Still, the more experienced among you needn’t worry too much and as for those of you who wouldn’t dare set foot down here, fear not, for you can get your adventure fix right here in these very pages.

With my CRASH Ravens well-rested, they have been back out scouring the lands in search of all the latest adventure news and have come back with not two but three new scrolls for us all. First up, I bring you news of a new and exciting ‘grimdark’ adventure by the champion of the ZX Spectrum, Andy Remic, who has created a game based on one of his excellent fantasy novels, The

Iron Wolves. Next, we hear news of a new Sci-Fi adventure currently in production by adventure author Quantum Sheep. There is also a fantastic new video tutorial on creating adventure games on your ZX Next which has been kindly put tighter by Paul Weller from Sunteam.

As promised, for our main review this month, I bring you Berlin-based author Stefan Vogt’s new and long-awaited Infocom inspired text adventure, Hibernated 1 – The Directors Cut.

So, with this issue’s proceedings concluded! Let us dawn our best summertime garments and arms for one last time as we venture off once more together along this month’s trail!
