Despite a long hiatus in filming caused by the pandemic – followed by heavy restrictions when it was eventually allowed to resume – the highly-acclaimed detective drama is back with a bang. Cold-case experts DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) and DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) are called in to investigate after a dismembered body is found hidden in a freezer in a scrap metal yard, which the team believe may have been stored for as long as 30 years. A unique football club tattoo leads the investigators to identify their victim as Matthew

Walsh, who disappeared in March 1990, while in his mid-twenties.

But when the team trace the owner of the fridge, they discover he is also dead – and the plot thickens when a search into his past brings to light a conviction for drink-driving on the night their victim went missing. So, Cassie and Sunny set about finding four other passengers who were in the car on the same fateful night, to find out if they can shed any more light on their case.

They are London couple Ram Sidhu and his wife Anna, who are expecting their first baby together; Liz Baildon and her fiancée Janet, who live in

Cambridge; Fiona Grayson, her partner Geoff and their children, who are in the Peak District; and Dean Barton and his wife Marnie, who live in Rochester with their disabled son Jack and his younger sibling Casper. And, as the investigation progresses, it is soon threatening everything the four couples have worked towards in the past three decades. Meanwhile, Cassie – who finds herself having to return to work to secure her pension – has her own struggles at home. Her son has just moved back in and her father Martin is struggling with early dementia. HHHHH
